Jeff Roberts makes a career out of making careers for others. And as head of one of the leading booking agencies in the entertainment industry, he reflects on a life inspired in many ways by music and its performance. A seminal moment in his young life was watching the Beatles on live television. He was also the son of country star and session artist Kenny Roberts and performed with his brothers in their own band. After college, Jeff began working hard to place groups in front of their most enthusiastic audiences. By 2010 his business had grown to encompass a wide-ranging field of performers, including those from virtually every musical genre – from folk and bluegrass to pop, rock, Christian, country, classical and jazz – and theatrical performances with stage plays, and variety acts.
Throughout his career, Jeff has found that the best practices in just about every endeavor are centered in integrity and mutual understanding. Those standards continue to be found in his relationships and modeled among his colleagues, and are principles that have had a lot to do with the company’s growing roster of artists. “They’re exceptional performers,” he says. “They get a lot of personal attention from us, but it’s also the collaboration we have with promoters and venues that results in a lot of business and happy associations.”
